What I Do

Enter I work with people and organisations of all sizes - from small firms to multinational corporates, in private, public and third sectors - to create new product and service offers or improve existing ones.

I help in the following areas and wherever possible seek to transfer know-how, not retain it:

Innovation Strategy // Workshop Facilitation // Problem Definition // Idea Generation
Prototyping Methods // Business Support & Mentoring

I'd describe my approach as 'Product and Service Development 2.0' - collaborative, agile and iterative. I'll find the best approach to use for a given client. This may result in me working very closely with a client in a one-to-one capacity; a sort of design management 'gun for hire'. It may also see me working with other colleagues, associates and networks to ensure a client is tapping in to a wider pool of resources.

I set up Aptide in the Summer of 2008. This is the vehicle through which most of my independent design management activity happens. An example project was working with the top team at Live Theatre.

I co-founded iScout to support the front-end of the innovation process by finding great problems to frame great project briefs. One of our early successes saw a well framed problem we'd found, underpin a very successful new training offer for the NAC Group.

I have been a UK Design Council Design Associate since 2007, working on both their private and public sector programmes for Business Growth and Service Transformation.

I am also an Associate at 100% Open - a specialist open innovation agency that helps large organisations - from P&G to Orange, Virgin Atlantic, TESCO and many many more - create value by openly innovating with others. 100% Open are the most well connected and networked agency and anyone who wants to really understand and begin to practice open innovation should check them out.

My most recent venture has been helping to set up What Could Be. a training company who run workshops for those interested in the strategic value of design, design thinking and service design. Check our workshops page for one in your area soon.
